Today would be several hours driving from Huế to Hội An. Our first stop was at the Lap An Lagoon.
The Lập An Lagoon is a large lagoon near the town of Lập An on the coast.

We passed through Da Nang and stopped south of the city on the beach for lunch.

We arrived in Hội An in the late afternoon and after checking into the hotel went on a walking tour of the
town.

A unique feature of Hội An architecture are the placing of two "eyes" over the front door.
These
eyes are often carved with the eight trigrams; or eight-petal flower with Heaven-and-Earth circle.
Old hinge on a door.
We wandered along the streets which were wide - in general - but this little ally was very narrow.

At sunset the Thu Bồn River came alive with boats and tourists.
Chùa Cầu is a bridge with a temple on top. In the 16th century the Japanese enclave built a bridge
linking them to the Chinese enclave. The bridge is known today as the Japanese Bridge.

A street vendor selling "Cloudy Ice Cream" we did not try any.
However, we did try the street fare at Bánh Mì Phượng. As it's name implies they sell
Vietnam's most popular street food - the bánh mì. A baguette filled with various fillings typically
pate. We skipped the pate and had pork and then one with a local fish. They were delicious.
Part of
the allure of Bánh Mì Phượng is that Anthony Bourdain ate there and said the sandwich was
the best he had ever had.
