Photographing Penguins in Antarctica

At the end of 2025 into 2026, Cal embarked on an adventure to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia Island and Antarctica on a photography trip. The trip had been delayed by a year due to avian flu and the fear that the penguins would catch the disease for which they have no natural immunity. Tourists were not allowed near the penguin colonies. Now, with pretty complex protocols, we could return.

The workshop was led by Action Photo Tours. There were 15 photographers in the group led by David Swindler and included professional photographers Kevin McNeal and Evelyn Fu.

We were on a ship, the MS Seaventure, with about 130 people but stayed in our own group going on excursions in dedicated Zodiac boats. The guides were from Polar Latitudes Expeditions.
