First on the agenda for day 9 was turning the rental car in - 30 dollars for a half-tank on a VW Golf!! Then off to the old city where we headed for the Church Saint Francesco.
We then toured the museum in the Palazzo Pubblico. This is the view from the third floor patio looking over the Tuscan countryside.
Next was some quick shopping for shoes and a stop for bread, meat, and cheese for sandwiches. Then off to the train station to catch the train back to Rome.
The train was a little late rolling into Rome so we did not get to the hotel until late afternoon. Rome had just won the Italian soccer championship and the city went wild the day prior to our arrival. They were still pretty excited as evidenced by the soccer flag outside our hotel. We stayed at the same hotel we started the trip with - Piazza di Spagna .
Cal is wearing the Father's Day gift purchased on the trip - a Ducati Performance motorcycle jacket.
The next morning we began the journey to the United States. Italy was a great vacation - not sure if we could have seen more. We only relaxed one afternoon. On the next visit we will plan a bit more downtime. Hope you enjoyed the pictures - Arrivederci!!!
