Our last day on the photography tour was in Delhi. In the morning we headed out to the old town.
We
told our guide we had been to Delhi several times and did not need to see the typical tourist
things - instead we wanted to see real street scenes.
It all started with the chaos of the train station and the taxis.
Taxi
A woman selling "toothbrushes" on the street
A cow with a nice jacket
A goat with jewelry - and a coat
A busy market street in old Delhi
A dog on top of bags
Men bathing just off the street
Bamboo ladders
People on loading docks for stores
Carts waiting for a load
Spices in the second tier spice market. It was very refreshing to be at the spice market,
which was not the one in the old city but one on the edge of the old city. It is here that the
goods
which are not prime are sold.
Nuts and dates
Raisins
Colorful pasta
Spice mound
Bags of spice surrounding a vendor
Smoke to keep insects off the dates.
Lots of nuts
All types of food
Dried coconut
A vendor surrounded by spiced and dried goods
A worker carrying a huge load on a bike. Note the gold iPhone.
Even wood and lichen for sale
The sacks of goods can easily be tied up in the bags and stored for the night.
Sitting on sacks
Painted cow
A vendor selling betel leaves with some sort of paste on them
Colorful spot for morning chai
This guy was so proud of his stall and had fun posing for us.
