Sunday, 18 June 2017 - Cruised early past Wallula Gap emerging from the Columbia Gorge into eastern Washington's open river landscapes, watched albatrosses and pelicans glide along the river, saw trains and barges dwarfed by basalt cliffs and river activity, passed through Ice Harbor locks with the pilots expertly navigating the S.S. Legacy, learned about fish ladders at the dams, and enjoyed calm reflections of basalt-carved terrain as we continued toward the Snake River confluence.
