Sunday, 25 February 2024 - Again we were up early. We were headed to Yaki Point, which is only accessible via shuttle. Since we were up
before the shuttle was
running, we hiked the mile to the point from the main road.
As the sun rose the moon was setting.
Beautiful orange sunrise to the east.
Nice morning light on the canyon.
The Grand Canyon wakes up with pinks and reds.
It was very cold on the rim of the canyon. I was happy when the sun began to shine on us and the canyon.
It was magical to see the light hit the canyon.
Many layers of rock cliffs in the Grand Canyon.
Nice soft light on the rocks.
Staring to warm up from the 30 degrees we started with in the dark.
A last look at the Grand Canyon from Yaki Point.
We headed to El Tovar, the lodge on the South Rim, for a great breakfast.
After several hours of working on our photographs we headed out for a sunset location. After looking at
several view points we decided on Mohave Point.
Clouds hung over the Grand Canyon but there looked to be an area near the earth where they might let in the sunset.
Even with the cloud cover the Grand Canyon is beautiful. There was a nice sliver of the Colorado River
far below.
The sunset was amazing - just below the clouds.
The clouds were so cool - a black and white version also looks good.
After sunset the light on the cliffs below us was magnificent.
