Saturday, 24 February 2024 - Today we slept in after getting up at 0400 for the past three days. We were tired from the big hike the day
before. We need
to be at the Grand Canyon by 1500 (3:00 pm) so plenty of time for a long breakfast and leisurely drive. We then went
out
to shoot sunset on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.
At Navajo Point we could see the Colorado River way in the distance looking to the west.
The sun was setting and there were many clouds. The light was special.
Soft light on the formations in the Grand Canyon.
Multiple plateaus leading up to higher rock formations.
The Colorado River flowing toward us in the northeast.
Rock cliffs in the setting sun.
Looking into the sun across several rock layers. The sun was not cooperating as it stayed behind some low clouds.
The light makes the foothills so soft and the cliffs vibrant.
Another sun-drenched cliff.
Navajo Point looking to the northwest - the rim and a small patch of snow near the edge.
Black and white of the canyon at dusk.
At the very last the sun poked through the cloud cover and was spectacular.
