Another night on the sea - this time we were really in the ocean as we left the inside passage behind and were in the Gulf of Alaska. We awoke in the gulf and entered College Fjord in the late afternoon.

College Fjord is a fjord located in the northern sector of Prince William Sound. The fjord contains five tidewater glaciers (glaciers that terminate in water), five large valley glaciers, and dozens of smaller glaciers, most named after renowned East Coast colleges. College Fjord was discovered in 1899 during the Harriman Expedition, at which time the glaciers were named based on the alma mater of the various scientists.

Morning breaks in the open sea. We are in the Gulf of Alaska and spent most of the morning sailing toward College Fjord.

These little sea otters are so cute but pretty small from the cruise ship. This little gang was floating miles from land in the Gulf of Alaska.

Another sea otter floating by. Most of these guys would go underwater as the cruise ship went by, so getting a good shot was challenging.

Seals quite a way from the ship enjoying a cool perch on a piece of ice.

At the top (north) of College Fjord is Harvard Glacier.

It was a very raining and chilly day. So the photos of the tidewater glaciers are very dark.
