Our ship was the
Veendam of the Holland America Line.
It was a good size - about 1,300 passengers. We were on a lower deck and our room was very
spacious with a large square window. There are several restaurants providing legendary
cruise dining 24/7. At the top is a lounge called the Crow's Nest which provided great
observation during the days with rainy weather.
We explored the ship and discovered one of two pools. The small pool on the aft (rear) of
the ship was a nice place
to watch the spectacular views.
Cal, Liz and Virginia Ann begin the trip with a
colorfull drink.
Small island with a few houses in the Vancouver harbor. In the background our first
exposure to the magnificant mountians we would see in Alaska.
The day's end came quickly as we began the cruise about 5:00 pm. So sunset was the next photo
opportunity. Sunset was very late in Alaska (or Canada) typically 10:00 pm!!!
Another view of the setting sun over the inside passage.
