Thursday, June 20, 2019 - Today is a relaxing day in Honfleur
The old harbor after breakfast.
Lighthouse on the East Pier in the Honfleur channel
We went on a long walk down the Honfleur channel which supports a public area.
This was a small park
with a pond and beautiful plants.
Looking back on the town of Honfleur nestled in the hillside.
Little ducklings on a pond with their mom and dad. Very cute - we watched them feeding for a long time.

Next to the park is the Naturospace Honfleur - which is a biosphere with tropical plants and butterflies.
While not the largest butterfly house we have seen they had many varieties - and several exotic birds.
In 1853 , a first lighthouse called "Lighthouse Hospital" was built. It was lit in 1857 and operated until 1908,
when it was extinguished and its lantern filed. It is now the property of the city of Honfleur.

The similarity with the name of Bay of Hunafloi in Iceland probably points to Honfleur being of Norse (Viking)
origin.
Pretty in pink.
