We had an afternoon in Delhi and decided to visit the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Formerly the Viceroy's House is the official residence of the President of India.
Rashtrapati Bhavan is a 340-room main building that has the president's official
residence, including reception halls, guest rooms and offices.
The Jaipur Column is a monumental column in the middle of the courtyard in front of Rashtrapati Bhavan.
In 1912, Madho Singh II, the Maharaja of Jaipur,
offered to sponsor its construction to commemorate the 1911 transfer of
the capital of India from Calcutta to Delhi.
Fountains in the courtyard outside the palace - I was not allowed to take a camera inside - not even a phone.
The steps leading up to the main doors to the palace - used for ceremonies.
On the streets to the palace are several roads which rise to the palace level -
these elephants stand facing away from the palace.
An elephant - which is almost life-size and the gardens around the palace.
