Before the trip to Havasu Canyon I had a day to take pictures in the Desert Botanical Gardens. There were many cacti blooming, so it was a very productive visit.

This was a huge flower compared to the cactus - and the blossom only lasts a day.

A yellow flower on a Prickly Pear cactus - there are many types of Prickly Pear.

The afternoon and evening were spent getting ready for the Havasu Canyon adventure. We were helicoptered into the canyon while our bags traveled by pack horses. The total weight of my bag could only be 20 lbs, which is not a lot for camping over 4 nights in the canyon. My camera bag was twice as heavy.
