Our trip started with a long drive to Chinle in Northern Arizona. We arrived to check in and
attended a briefing by LeRoy DeJolie - our professional photographer and leader
for the workshop.
Our first photo opportunity was sunset at the Tsegi Overlook. The overlook is on
the South Rim drive - one of seven overlooks and the second one from the visitor
center.
The setting sunlight on the canyon wall.
The sun still touching the top of the canyon. Chinle Creek is dry at this time of year.
The trees were just showing some color - we were about a week early to catch the
full color.
The sunlight at the top of the cliffs shining on a hole in the rock. Later from the
creek bed I would photograph the hole in the rock from the other side.
The patterns on the canyon walls would continue to intrigue me in color and in black and
white.
The sun is down and Canyon de Chelly in the lingering light.
The rocks are alive with color. Blade Rock is the sharp-edged rock in the center.
Hard to stop taking pictures - finally we were called
back to return to the hotel for dinner.
