Over the years Cal owned a few motorcycles. They we all fun to ride and had great sentimental value.
My
first motorcycle
was a 1978 Honda 750 which was with me at college and then took me
cross-country trip
after graduation. That bike was destroyed (not by me) in Germany. I purchased a
1980 Kawasaki 1000
in Germany and brought it back to the US. Then I picked up a
1979 CBX 1000
which I restored. The Kawasaki 1000 and CBX were named
Michelle
and
Renee
respectively - these were the names of girls
in High School who were older and very out of reach. Then the
1992 Dyna Daytona Lowrider
was added to the stable - fun to ride and the only one
Virginia Ann would ride
- and even then only if I went very slow. Finally, the
2000 Ducati 996
was purchased - a great bike. While the others have been sold, I still have
Raquel
(named after actress Raquel Welch, another boyhood dream).
The oldest is
Renee, a 1979 CBX.
This is a
1000cc 6 cylinder classic. I
really wanted one right out of school but could not afford it until 17 years
later.
This is
Michelle - a 1980 Kawasaki
1000 LTD. This was a motorcycle my roommate in Germany bought and then sold
to me. I rode it until he was able. We have been across the US twice together.
This is
Dyna, a 1992 Dyna Daytona Lowrider.
A Harley
for those who may not know motorcycles. This is a limited edition motorcycle
commemorating 50 years of bike rallies in Daytona.
The latest bike is
Raquel, a 2000 Ducati
996. This is an Italian racing bike which is really more than I can handle
- but very fun to ride.
