Flew in from Antsiranana to Tana and loaded into two 4-wheel drive vehicles for the 4.5-hour drive
down National Highway 2 - which needed a 4-wheel drive vehicle.
This is the countryside about halfway through the drive.
I had convinced everyone that if we had time we should stop at the Reptile Park which I visited the week before.
Everyone was
very excited about the colorful lizards.
This is a female Panther chameleon.
And the male Panther chameleon
The Elephant Ear chameleon
Parson's chameleon
Oustalet chameleon
The Parson's chameleon's tail
Panther chameleon
They fed one of the Panther chameleons. I did not do well capturing the event. You can see the long tongue
going for the cricket.
Baron's Mantella - a small toxic frog - a little poisonous.
The Satanic Leaf Tailed gecko - he has little horns over his eyes.
Leaf Tailed gecko
Tree Boa
A Comet moth or Madagascan Moon moth - it is another Madagascar only insect and is endangered.
Brown Leaf chameleon
Madagascar Leaf-Nosed snake - he hunts lizards.
Paroedura Masobe gecko is an endangered species of reptile endemic to Madagascar.
We arrived in Andasibe for the night walk - which was pretty easy as we simply walked along the road and looked
into the
jungle.
This is a Boophis - Bright-Eyed frog.
The frogs were the real draw on the night walk. This is another Boophis the Fiery Bright-Eyed frog.
The Satanic Leaf-Tailed gecko - only found in Madagascar - endangered.
The only lemur we spotted was the Mouse lemur - we saw several pairs of eyes and then this one stayed around -
but not long enough
for anyone to get a picture - we would have another chance in the south.
