The next morning and afternoon we went on hikes to the Amber Mountain park.
On the way to the park the drivers spotted a chameleon
Then just further down a green Panther chameleon was crossing the road.
On our hike our first discovery was a male Amber Mountain chameleon
Here the Amber Mountain chameleon is making avery slow escape from the photographers.
This guy has a rhino-like horn - it is the Northern Blue Nose chameleon.
We spotted a bunch if caterpillars gathered on a branch.
The Madagascar Dwarf gecko blends into the rocks.
This little brown frog was hard to spot even when pointed out.
This little frog had a pretty color and an odd nose. The Tomato frog is found only in Madagascar
The Sanford's Brown lemur is only found in the forests of northern Madagascar.
Sanford's Brown lemur high up in a tree.
The diet of this species consists primarily of fruit, but includes other plant parts according to seasonal
availability, and also includes the occasional invertebrate (e.g., centipedes, millipedes and spiders).

Sanford's brown lemur is considered to be Endangered, and among the rarest of the brown lemurs.
Male and female Sanford's Brown lemur.
There is no evidence of female dominance in this species, which is unusual for lemurs but appears to be frequent
in brown lemur species.
Another hiding species in the forest - how the guides saw the caterpillar is beyond me - it blended in to the
moss covered rock
perfectly.

This butterfly stopped long enough for everyone to photograph.
On the branch in the picture is a Mossy Leaf-Tailed gecko - can you spot it? Our guide told us there was a lizard
in the bush. We all looked and said no - you are joking. You really had to focus to see the lizard
The head is to the left.
One of the guides accidentally bumped the bush and the Mossy Leaf-Tailed gecko jumped up on a branch - now you
can
see the lizard easily.
