Friday 1 November 2024 - Not much sleep - up for a long drive to Convict Lake to catch the sunrise.
The early morning light on Laurel Mountain while the stars are still out. I am not
sure what the light in the west is from - Fresno is the closest town on the other
side of the mountains.
Look closely, and you can see meteor trails in the sky over Laurel Mountain.
Convict Lake has spots where the depth is over 140 feet.
It received its name from settlers in the 1870s when a group of escaped convicts hid out near the lake.
There were casualties in the ensuing shootout on both the posse and prisoner side.
There were several trees with some color making the lake wonderful.
The sun hits the top of Laurel Mountain.
Cottonwoods and the early morning golden light on Convict Lake.
In the afternoon we took a drive in the area around Bishop looking for pretty trees.
We found several beautiful trees in a farming/ranching area.
Horses in one field enjoying the warm afternoon temperature.
In another field were several cows.
Beautiful backlight on a grove of cottonwoods.
In our wanderings we stopped at a campground where I snapped a picture of a dead bush near sunset.
