Tuesday 5 November 2024 - The next morning I was on my own again and decided to return to Mesquite Dunes. Having already hiked to them the day before, I had no trouble finding a good place to enter the dunes in the dark.

deathvalley2024 — Ripples in the sand at the bottom of a dune.

deathvalley2024 — Shadows in the rising sun.

deathvalley2024 — The sun caught in the center of the dune.

deathvalley2024 — Ripples in the sand without footsteps. I was a long way from the public parking for Mesquite Dunes and the other tourists.

deathvalley2024 — It looks like the sand on a dune has fallen.

deathvalley2024 — Swoopy texture and lines in the sand.

deathvalley2024 — Not sure how this set of ripples formed on the side of a dune.

deathvalley2024 — Sand swirls into a hole.

deathvalley2024 — Sand surrounding a dry place in the desert.

deathvalley2024 — A little bush looks like it is no longer living - maybe some water?

deathvalley2024 — Cracks in the desert floor lead into the dunes.

deathvalley2024 — A creosote bush survives at the edge of the dunes. How can it survive??

deathvalley2024 — Huge dune with the mountains in the background.

deathvalley2024 — The sun is setting over Death Valley.

deathvalley2024 — The light from the setting sky sets the sand a pink color.

deathvalley2024 — Pink sky and Death Valley desert floor.

deathvalley2024 — Sunset in the desert - so pretty.

A mile walk back to the trucks in the dark and an early dinner at the hotel.
